When Is the Best Time of Year to Insulate in the GTA?
Late March through May and mid-September through October are the practical windows. Demand across the GTA has been reported as dropping 20 to 30% in those shoulder seasons, while January and February have been reported as running 15 to 25% above the annual average because of emergency calls. Attic work itself can be done year-round.
Why the shoulder seasons are easier
In spring and fall crews are not competing with frozen-pipe calls and ice dam emergencies, so scheduling is faster and pricing is more negotiable. You are also not trying to book the week after the first cold snap, when everyone else calls at once.
Attic work is unaffected by outdoor temperature in any meaningful way — the crew works in an unconditioned space either way. What changes is availability, not quality.
When waiting is the wrong call
If you have active moisture, mould growth, rodent activity or a fan venting into the attic, the problem compounds through a season. Those are not comfort issues, they are building issues.
If your heating bill is the concern, the payback starts the day the work is done. Waiting six months to save on the install can cost more than it saves in a cold winter.
